Preseason Junior Umpire Programme
A new initiative this year to help better support our young umpires with learning the rules and basics but also a couple of extra practical sessions to build the confidence to blow the whistle.
Our Preseason Junior Umpiring programme is aimed at umpires that have done little to no umpiring before and/or those that have not yet gained their centre badge. We plan for the sessions to be fun, engaging and cover the fundamentals of umpiring across 4 sessions: an online theory session to start and then 3 practical sessions at Auckland Netball Centre, St Johns.
The theory session is held via Zoom from the comfort of your own home with one of our expert facilitators, going over the rules and explaining the role of an umpire on game day. The Practical sessions are to reinforce the learning of the rules in real time to consolidate understanding.
As part of the programme you will be encouraged to sit the online NNZ Learning to Umpire Module – the minimum understanding recommended for umpiring Year 5 + 6 and intermediate school games at Auckland Netball.
