Auckland Netball is home to New Zealand’s largest school-age competition which caters for Primary schools right through to Secondary schools.

The futureFERNS Year 1 – 8 competition was developed by Netball NZ with an emphasis on fun activities conducted in a safe environment.

Competitions are run at both our St Johns and Mt Eden venues for all age groups.​​​​​​​

The futureFERNS competition is divided into four key stages of development, from the youngest children in Year 1 right through to Intermediate age children in Year 8. The modified game transforms and becomes more challenging as the players get older and continue to develop their Netball skills.

At Year 7&8, players have developed a considerable understanding of the game. The focus is now on skill improvement as well as participation and fun as players move to a 7v7 game on a full-size court.

Lucca Trailers Secondary Schools Competition

The futureFERNS Saturday competition at Windmill Road, Mt Eden is divided into four key stages of development, from the youngest children in Year 1 right through to Intermediate age children in Year 8. The modified game transforms and becomes more challenging as the players get older and continue to develop their netball skills.

The Secondary Schools Competition at Auckland Netball draws school teams from the Greater Auckland region with Premier grade right through to Year 9 and social grades. It is the largest school netball competition in New Zealand and teams benefit from a strong and diverse league across all grades.
