Auckland Netball are pleased to announce the details of a pilot session of Wheelchair Netball taking place later this month.
This initiative is a New Zealand first and aligns with our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and netball opportunities for all. Wheelchair users have previously participated in our No Limits Netball programme, however, this project aims to devise a new format of the game, similar to examples from other codes including Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby.
With the 2024 Paralympics currently taking place in Paris, we feel now is the perfect time to launch this pilot session and provide an opportunity for teenagers and young adults to try the game, while looking ahead to the development of a future Wheelchair Netball programme at Auckland Netball Centre.
Date: Thursday 19 September
Time: 5-6pm
Location: Auckland Netball Centre, St Johns
Registrations: https://bit.ly/3MuAJLU
The session is aimed at teenagers and young adults who are wheelchair users, but we will also have some wheelchairs available for friends and families to join the session. Our facility in St Johns is fully wheelchair accessible and has disabled parking available.
