SECONDARY SCHOOLS COMPETITION​​​​​​​        
The Shakespeare Orthodontics Secondary Schools Competition at Auckland Netball draws school teams from the greater Auckland region with Premier grades right through to Year 9. It is the largest school netball competition in New Zealand and teams benefit from a strong and diverse league across all grades.

Shakespeare Orthodontics Secondary Schools

Shakespeare Orthodontics Secondary Schools game days are Saturday mornings between 8:00am and 1:25pm.
Games are 40 minutes in duration (4 x 10 minute quarters).

Grades include Premier grades 1 & 2, Senior A – G, Year 10 A – G, and Year 9 A – H.

Premier grades play on the indoor courts at 8:30am | 9:30am | 10:30am | 11:30am
Premier 1 & 2 are grades of 12 teams each.

All other grades play outdoors at 8am | 8:55am | 9:50am | 10:45am | 11:40am | 12:35pm
Games are centrally timed with no injury time. Grades consist of 10-12 teams divided into 2 sections of 5-6 teams.


Umpiring Details

Umpires are provided for Premier 1 & 2 grades competition games only (not grading games) and the cost is built into the 2023 fees.

For all other grades, teams are responsible for umpiring their own games. As umpiring is the team’s responsibility, a team not supplying an umpire for their game will play short to enable one member of the team to umpire.

Player & team officials registrations are open for schools using their Sporty ANC 2024 Netball Registration Form.

Boys & Mixed League

6-week League played Saturday's alongside our  Secondary Schools Competition at St. Johns

Dates: 25 May to 3 August (no play 1 & 29 June, 6, 13 & 20 July)

Fee: $300 per team

Games: 4 x 10-minute quarters at 10-45am, 11.40am or 12.35pm

All teams must provide bibs, ball & umpire.

Mixed: no more than 3 boys on the court at one time. One boy could play Defence (GK or GD), another boy could play Mid-court (WD, C or WA) and another boy could play Attack (GA or GS)

REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

Netball Northern Zone offers our players representation at regional level in the following teams:

  • Northern MG Mystics
  • Stars Netball
  • Netball Northern Zone

Auckland Netball also offers an opportunity for players to represent the centre in the following teams:

  • Opens x 1 team
  • Under 18 x 1 team
  • Under 16 x 2 teams
  • Under 14 x 2 teams

Trials for Auckland Netball age group teams will be held in May. 

Please note:

Players can play netball at more than one Netball Centre as long as those centres fall within the Northern Zone region. Players must be affiliated either by playing for School or Club to nominate to trial for an Auckland Netball representative age group team or trial for a National Championship team (NPC). If you intend on trialling for a representative team and Auckland is NOT your primary centre, please indicate what centre you will be trialling for. Those who trial for Auckland and are not selected can apply for a release to trial at another centre.
